White people invented racism? You need to check your history, racism has been around since we first evolved. Want a good example? The African, Homo Sapiens, obliterated the European Homo Neandethalus. Racism is even present in Chickens and other species, no one “invented” it, it is a product of nature, quit with trying to manufacture white guilt, and make your life better instead of complaining about it, no one is stopping you.

You know what my favorite thing about this is? The way you obscure the fact that the homo sapiens who went to Europe and eventually displaced/assimilated/killed the Neanderthals were the direct ancestors of European humans… you’re framing it as Africans killing Europeans when it’s really the birth of European humanity.

My favorite thing is the way you’re trying to frame racism—a social construct that lets members of one species dominate the rest of the species—as somehow being parallel to the competition of natural selection as it exists between species, like chattel slavery and Jim Crow and the school-to-prison pipeline and stop and frisk and racist hiring policies and redlining and all that, like it’s some kind of genetic imperative that not only is literally no one to blame for but that it’s good and necessary.

No, you know what? I’m actually going to throw those things out. My favorite thing about this post is your conclusion. After you insist that racism is natural, that it’s ubiquitous, that it exists in our DNA and we will never get rid of it because it comes from nowhere and has nowhere to go, you conclude by saying “ make your life better instead of complaining about it, no one is stopping you.”

Really? How does this make any sense? You tried your mightiest to convince your audience that racism is a natural process and there’s no stopping it, and your conclusion is “…therefore it doesn’t exist”.

I was an artist originally, I have been in art school since I was 5 years old. I got scholarships to three art schools, Art Institute of Chicago, Saint Xavier, and the American Academy of Art, where I ended up going—and I dropped out because I had an assignment where I was supposed to do an ink painting or something, and I would take two weeks to do it, and when I looked at my work, I just felt that I would never be one of the great visual artists of the world. Al Jazeera’s Dahr Jamail reports that contamination from U.S. weapons, particularly Depleted Uranium (DU) munitions, has led to an Iraqi health crisis of epic proportions. “[C]hildren being born with two heads, children born with only one eye, multiple tumours, disfiguring facial and body deformities, and complex nervous system problems,” are just some of the congenital birth defects being linked to military-related pollution.

In certain Iraqi cities, the health consequences are significantly worse than those seen in the aftermath of the atomic bombing of Japan at the end of WWII.

The highest rates are in the city of Fallujah, which underwent two massive US bombing campaigns in 2004. Though the U.S. initially denied it, officials later admitted using white phosphorous. In addition, U.S. and British forces unleashed an estimated 2,000 tons of depleted uranium ammunitions in populated Iraqi cities in 2003.

DU, a chemically toxic heavy metal produced in nuclear waste, is used in weapons due to its ability to pierce through armor. That’s why the US and UK were among a handful of nations (France and Israel) who in December refused to sign an international agreement to limit its use, insisting DU is not harmful, science be damned. Meanwhile, the Pentagon’s refusal to release details about where DU munitions were fired has made it difficult to clean up.
